Blast From The Past No. 50 (16/08/2019)
No new scanning for a while so here's one I did earlier: a companion to no. 7 below showing another view of the filming of "Heaven's Gate" in Oxford in April 1980. This time the view is from further down Catte Street outside the main gate of Hertford College. Shot on Kodacolor II with a Rolliecord TLR.

Proud, privileged and very much looking forward to walking my wonderful daughter, Rachael, down the aisle this weekend. Here she is aged five learning to ride her bicycle.

Rediscovered a particular favourite landscape: Sidmouth seafront with the cliffs beyond. Shot on Fujichrome during a family holiday in Devon in 2004.

In May 1990 I was fortunate enough to marry this beautiful, smart, generous, fun, sexy, wonderful girl. Now, almost 29 years later it's her final day at work and I am very much looking forward to spending the rest of my own retirement with her. Lots more time for family and friends, travel, bridge, running, gardening, crosswords, tea-shops, reading... Just hope I can keep up. Here she is almost 29 years ago during our honeymoon in Riva Del Garda, when we were both working as computer programmers at what was then the Sun Alliance Insurance Group. Here's to the dawning of a new era.

This is the first one that I can't tie down to a month and a year or even a location. It came from an unmarked slide-box with nothing written on the slide-frame itself either. It may have been taken at Flamingo World in Yorkshire during a holiday there. But, hey! That's not the only place I've seen flamingoes. Having said that though, the slides were in perfect condition and scanned really easily, as the original demonstrates.

It's Eights Week in Oxford again - this time it's May 1980 and the Hertford College Ladies Schools VIII taking a leisurely paddle up the river. This is another of my earliest photographs - not the sharpest in the World, but not bad considering it was shot hand-held on my borrowed Rolleicord TLR. Fortunately the large format Kodacolor II negative leaves lots of leeway for poor technique. It was probably taken from Donnington Bridge. If you find the pink a bit much try the monochrome version that may be easier on the eye, although I do like the way the colour has been picked up by the water.

Here is my sister, Anne, again - this time though it's Christmas 1991.
